How do I look after the leather?

Wipe dust off with a dry cloth. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry away from radiators and direct sun, which is what cracks leather. A neutral colourless balm two or three times a year is all the feeding it needs; test it on the base first and expect it to look slightly darker for a day. Light scratches rub out under a finger.

Yes, and unevenly, which is the point. Full-grain leather darkens where it is handled and where light reaches it, so the handles and the front panel move first. It is not a defect and it is not covered by the guarantee, because it is the material doing what it was chosen to do.

Can I carry a fountain pen in it?

Yes. The lining is suede, so nibs are not resting against bare leather. Cap down if the pen has a cap, nib up if it does not, so ink stays where it belongs on a plane.
